An example of a great home page…

…Yell. Visually very simple, yet clever. It starts with what everyone needs: Search. The design then leads you subtly to input options and ultimately the search button.
It asks you the questions as you go, without actually asking. For example, “What do you want to search for?” is represented by the “Search for” and “and/or company name” inputs.
Once you’ve decided which you want, you’re asked for the “Where you want to search?” in, i.e.: “Located in”. All that is left for you to do is click the nice big, friendly “Search” button.

Can’t get more obvious than that really…it helps you get what you want quickly and effectively without really having to think about it. General navigation is kept clean and uncluttered, mostly hidden in pop-up menu items along the bottom of the page.
Overall I think they’ve adopted the KISS approach very well. You do what do need to without much thought. Great example of how to design an interface.
