Online word processing offline

It sounds confusing I know, but the barriers between online and offline functionality are gradually being eroded. Following on from my previous post on online functionality offline, a company famed for it’s forward thinking web strategy has jumped on the bandwagon - Zoho.
Their product set is aimed squarely at Microsoft’s established dominance in the office application space. They offer alternatives for word processing, spreadsheet production, presentations and more. Up until recently however these have all bene online only, which to some has been a drawback. However, with the mighty Google tackling the online/offline debate with Google Gears, Zoho has found new power that should lead to greater market share.
It goes to show that sooner or later someone is going to solve your problems and this is a great example of collaborative working for common aims. So the next time someone says “Oh I have to use Microsoft, because there isn’t anything else” you can set the record straight.
