Getting a colour scheme from your photos

Sometimes generating a colour scheme form a photo you have can be tricky. Trying to choose the right colours combinations from potentially thousands of pixels in an image can be somewhat daunting. Enter Pic2Color.
What’s it do?
They’ve created an online tool that quite simply takes your photo or image and automatically selects a series of key colours from which you can generate a colour scheme. Brilliant if you are building a website or creating a brochure and need a complimentary colour scheme to go with your chosen imagery.
How do you do it then?
It’s so easy anyone with even a limited knowledge of the internet should be able to get this to work for them.
First off choose an image. For this example we’ll use a picture of a well known aircraft: the Supermarine Spitfire:

Step 1 - upload your image
Once you’ve gone to the Pic2Color website click the link next to ?Create color palettes? titled ?Try??.

Step 2 - load it!
Once the new window has been loaded you should get a sample image with a pre-selected colour palette.

Enter the web address of the image you wish to use and click ?load?. At this point you can also upload an image from your computer and/or choose from a random selection of images.

Hey presto your image should be loaded with a selection of colours to choose from below it

Step 3 - choose your colour(s)
Choosing the colours is simplicity itself. Simply click on the one you want and you’re given the HEX code to the right which is now ready to use on a website or in your image editing software.

Conclusion
Simple to use. Highly effective. And best of all…free!
