The web isn’t dominated by US companies

Having read this recent article from Bowen, Craggs and Co, I’m fascinated and slightly surprised to see that of the top ten corporate organisation, only 2 are from the US, the rest being European, in turn 4 of these UK firms.

This is good news for the UK, showing we have some talented and brave companies. The article is a useful read for anyone in business, especially the large corporate market, but the comments made and lessons learnt are applicable to many small to medium sized firms.

For example the report states that first class websites “offer a high quality service to all stakeholders” and are “run according to well-observed rules and processes“, which again seems like corporate-speak for overwrought and draining processes, but in fact means that they follow all the right rules: write good content, use accessible design, provide clear and consistent navigation and structure, ensure data protection coverage, meet legal and legislative requirements, etc.

Common sense and very straightforward - sound advice for everyone with a website, large or small.
