1,000 years of Gloucestershire
by Rob Mason ~ April 11th, 2008 Filed under: Aside, Fun, Random.
I’m slightly late coming to the party, given that it started in April last year, but better late than never! Basically the county of Gloucestershire is 1,000 years old and local government agencies, charities and other groups are organising a range of events to mark the anniversary.
Events include, amongst other things, arts, dance, faith, music, sport and culminate my local Tewkesbury Medieval Festival on the 12th and 13th July, which is co-incidentally the 25th anniversary of that event. So a great excuse for a party all round then!
The other reason for brining this whole event to light, was to say how proud I am that my wife was selected to be part of a small group of local writers contributing to a book: Write Around Gloucestershire. Not sure when the book is coming out yet, but suffice to say I’m more than a little chuffed to have a published author in the family. With any luck she’ll soon become a world renowned writer and I can be a man of leisure…I can dream can’t I?
