How to get visitors to your site
by Rob Mason ~ September 3rd, 2007 Filed under: Fun, Strategy, Useful stuff.
Here’s a clever way of getting people to visit your website or blog: give them your valuable service as a prize. David Airey, a graphic designer specialising in logo design, has done just that by offering a bumper pack of goodies as a free prize draw to celebrate his site’s one year birthday.

Freebies!
The premise is simple: linking to his site or subscribing to his news feed (this is my entry and I have subscribed to the feed) enters you into the competition. Also by spreading the word to others you get even more entries. I’m not going to stoop to linking to all and sundry for no apparent reason, but I will say of the organisations providing the prizes I do read Graphic Design Blog and Randa Clay Design on a regular basis.
The winner gets to take home a whole pile of useful and incredibly valuable stuff from logo designs through to expert web hosting to books. There’s also 2rd and 3rd place prizes with equally high quality stuff, plus some bonus stuff thrown in for good measure!
More traffic please
Of course it’s just a cunning ploy to generate traffic to his site and up the number of feed readers, but this isn’t a bad thing. This type of approach is a fabulous way of generating the traffic and spreading the word. Kudos David for taking this tack. He’ll get oodles of coverage from peers and prize entrants alike who will no doubt tell their peers and website visitors, which in turn has got to turn into business for him. Not only that but the articles he produces are of a very high quality, full of useful information and tips.
So even if you don’t win, you still get quality articles.
